Couldn't Get This Out of My Head......

Huey 'piano' Smith & The Clowns - Don't You Just Know It (Snatch OST)

Over the weekend, I was able to catch 'Snatch' on HBO (I seldom watch HBO....). I have to say, I really like the movie, for its' fast pace, good plot, and top of it all, its' bunch of interesting characters.

However, what really stuck in my head was the song that was played when the ending credits started to roll. The tune was so catchy, that I Google it, found it on Youtube, and played it over and over again until I lost count. It got so stuck in my head that it was still playing in my head when I started work this morning (especially the chorus), and must had took me a good half an hour to finally 'switch' it off.

So here it is, I putting it up here for all of you to enjoy. Hope you guys like it as much as I do.

Another Muppet Clip

The Muppet Show (with Elton John) - Crocodile Rock

Initially, I wanted to write about the messy state of my bench, desk and work. But then I read a few blogs and realized there are quite a few unhappy souls around. So I decided to post this video clip instead.

When I was in Basel, I watched quite a few episodes of The Muppet Show (from season 1 till half of season 3. I d/l all 5 seasons...) and this is one of my favorite scene. I will always play this clip in youtube, usually more then once - I mean, don't you all find this scene funny? There's Elton John in big colorful costumes, with wacky muppets. And where else can you get crocodiles to do a sing-along - and even the crocodiles are cute!

And where else do you find a variety show full of animals, vegetables and various other creatures? I couldn't explain further but I really like the show; it's good, clean, wholesome, fun entertainment that didn't depend on sex or crude and meaningless jokes to sell, which is so unlike most of what is on offer on TV nowadays.

Hence, I guess most important of all, I like this show because it has innocence. In fact, I think I like shows and movies (and maybe songs) from the 60s, 70s, 80s because of the innocence. I love innocence. Cos I lost mine a long time ago and since then, life had been a bit complicated. Things are simpler now though and I'm keeping it that way, trying to simplify it further. But still, I lost my innocence and the world is now so complicated...

Anyway, this post is suppose to cheer ppl up, and dwelling too much about lost innocence will only make this a depressing topic. So that will be for next time. Meanwhile. Enjoy the clip.

Something Cheerful...

The Muppet Show - Temptation

Didn't have a good day at work today. Rather deflated, defeated. In fact, things weren't so nice recently. Being making lotsa mistakes. Ridiculously lots. Ridiculous mistakes too, some of them.

So, I need something to cheer me up. The Muppet Show always help. Here's one of my favourite clips from the show. There's something cute and funny about 4 frogs singing the beat (or is it rhythm? Whatever....) and also about the hens doing the backup. And there's Miss Piggy doing what she always does, which is always funny.

So yah, I feel a bit better. As for you guys, Enjoy.

Finally...

Yes, I had finally finished writing the second part of the trilogy. I had planned to make a mound, but ended up creating a mountain. I initially wanted it to be about 10 chapters long, but as you all can see, it's actually almost 3 times as long as the 1st part and is simply (even by my standard) too long, too draggy, too boring.

So for the third part, I'm gonna post it only after I had totally completed it, editing and all. Hopefully this will prevent it from spiraling out of control and getting too long like this second part, where lack of editing (I was posting and writing at the same time) was most likely the main reason for it's length.

As a result, it's gonna take quite sometime before the third part comes out, but you guys need a break from it anyway. Meanwhile, I'm just gonna fill the space by posting the usual ranting about my daily life and some useless inspirational/positive thoughts I pluck out of thin air. Maybe I will also be a hopeless romantic once in a while and slip in a few sentimental postings here and there, and even do those very "blog" kind of yes-I-am-writing-to-you-in-this-blog-but-your-name-is-not-mentioned posting.

Oh ya, most of all, there will be quite a number of music video clips from youtube. Here's one of them. Enjoy.

There Is A Meaning. Part 2

Ok, here is my take about the song. But first, here is one of the two music video of the original version:

U2 - One

It's very interesting... that two people with great differences (in term of character, thinking, life philosophy, etc) can be attracted to each other exactly because of these differences. Then some of them got together. Among those who got together, some are fortunate enough to continue to appreciate each other's differences and get closer. While for the rest, after sometime things just falls apart due to the exact same differences that brings them together in the first place; the relationship sours, the couple becomes unhappy with each other and all-out war ensues as the endless shouting, crying, blaming and argument begins.

In short, opposites attract, then attack. Then they will keep on hurting each other until it is too painful to carry on. It is this point of a broken relationship that the song is singing about. Imagine this scenario: there was a big fight, all the rage and dissatisfaction was let out with shouting tears and all. Then a moment of silence before the music begins and then in a tired and helpless tone the question was asked "is it getting better? ..." follows by some other questions and comments which underlines the hopelessness the relationship is going through, and maybe the inevitable break-up. So if anyone one of you is thinking of playing this song on your wedding day, it is not that type of song.

The song might end here but the story doesn't. Even after the opposites repelled each other away, one or both of them will still continue to attack the other, perhaps due to unquenched anger, lack of final closure, lost of innocence and/or time, or a series of other unknown reasons. But doing so just won't bring any peace. This is the point I will say:

事情都已经过了,人都已经走了;
已经摆脱了,自由了。
还耿耿于怀,怀恨在心不快乐,何苦?

There Is A Meaning. Part 1

Today is my 2nd day at work, so I should be writing something about it or about yesterday. However at the moment I am too lazy to write a long and original post. So what I will do instead is something that I had been putting on hold for quite a long time: a very blog thing of posting a music video (yes, again) and, for the 1st time, the lyrics. I picked this song because of its' meaning (or at least what I think it is), so pay attention to the lyrics.

U2 & Mary J. Blige - One

Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
You got someone to blame
You say...

One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you
Don't care for it

Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's...

Too late
Tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One...
Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head

Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we
Hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt
One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other

One...life

One
Do you get it? Do you understand?
