Eagles - Love Will Keep Us Alive

Been quite sometimes since I last post a video, so I thot I will jus post one now.

Initially, I wanted to post the video of my all-time favourite love song (my love song anthem) and then talked about that period time when it came out: when I was 18 and still having this romantic notion about love, relationship and the whole nine yard. Then I will follow to comment how now I find that notion stupid, but in a beautiful and innocent way, and etc etc, blah blah blah....

However, I decided to post this video instead cos I like this song very much too. I wasn't successful in posting it in my previous blog, so I thot I do it again here. I find the music of the song nice, and the lyrics is so sweet: it's simple yet so sweet. Definitely for ppl who are deeply in love. It might be sweet-nothing, but isn't sweet-nothing an essential ingredient of love? Isn't love about lotsa sweet-nothing and a dose of pragmatism and practicality?

The TH Influence

This is a post I wanted to write for quite sometime. Very good fren TH and I go a long way back- figuratively and literally. We known each other since NS, were in the same platoon and stay in the same bunk, and I would say we had walked more than 200km together in route marches and army exercises.

Being such good frens, of cos there were frequent exchange of ideas and influences between the both of us. For example, when we were playing Heroes 2, I shared him the Black Dragon Tactic. Then when we were playing Heroes 3, he shared with me the Skeleton Soldier Tactic which I used improved it into the Power Lich Tactic by using the tactic on Sandro.

I had mentioned that my one-year period of mourning for my previous relationship is partly influenced by my good fren TH. Some of other things I did are also influenced by him. Like the design of this blog. The title of the blog came out of a running gag between us. Some of the photos used in the blog were taken during one of our trip to ECP, where he tried to hard sell me his extra camera. Then the idea of putting the poem by the side of the entry came from his relentless scribbling on the wooden plank that served as backing for our bed during NS. Then the wuliangtianxia.... all these are things that might not make sense to anyone else, but it's something that TH will udnerstand, and smile about.

Of cos other dear frens of mine also have their influence on me, and I always try to learn wat is good from all of them. However, this entry is deidicated to TH, for his unwillingness to be drag into the "abstinence issue". That's all I can say for now. Maybe I will put up another such entry again if I think of any other things that is influnced by him.

Fun Things To Do In The Lab

When not doing the most exciting and challenging thing called experiment (which includes reaction, work-up, purification and analysis), you can try:

1) Take out clean and dry glasswares from the oven, and put them back into respective drawers;
2) Take out clean and wet glasswares from the dishwasher and put them into the oven to dry;
3) Put the dirty glassware into the dishwasher to wash;
4) Wash the dirty spatulas;
5) Wash NMR tubes;
6) Refill solvent bottles;
7) Replenish any other comsumables (vials, TLC plates, filter paper, etc...) that are running low;
8) Replace filled waste solvents containers with empty ones;
9) Bring filled waste solvents containers to the collection point. For extra kick, try not wearing a jacket;
10) Tie up all thrash bags and place them on the trolley for the lab help to collect. Note that this can only be done once a week.

When all these are done, and you are really left with nothing to do, then you can only do the most boring thing of having a coffee.
